About Myself

I am a Full-Stack PHP & Javascript Developer with a passion for creating beautiful and functional websites.

I have been working in the IT industry for over 15 years and have been a PHP Developer for the past 5 years.

I have worked on a wide variety of projects, from small websites to large enterprise applications. I have a passion for learning new technologies and I am always looking for ways to improve my skills.

I grew up in the small but beautiful town of Jeffreys Bay in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. I have always had a passion for technology and I have been tinkering with computers since I was 6 years old. My first computer ran DOS and I used to spend hours playing games on it with the hue of the amber screen which was going to apparently make my eyes sqare :D

I first discovered that I had an interest in programming when I was 17, ye I know a bit of a late bloomer. I used to mess around with setting up Counter-Strike servers and I found that I really enjoyed the process of setting up the server and configuring it. This lead to setting up a couple of servers for a small LAN tournament which I got involved in via a friend.

After that tournament I got the attention of Len Nery who was the organiser of rAge (South Africa's biggest gaming expo), he asked me to set up the servers for the next rAge event, this was a huge opportunity for me and I jumped at the chance. This was the first time I had ever worked on a project of this scale and I was very nervous about it. I ended up building a Perl script to listen for in game events/chat and then send commands to the server via RCON. The tournament went off without a hitch and I was very proud of what I had accomplished.

After that I went more down my familiar path of IT Support and I worked in that field for almost a decade. This was never really my passion and I always felt like there was something more I was longing for.

While working in the IT industry I ended up falling inlove with the joy that is Linux and I started to learn more about it. I started to learn more about the command line and how to use it to automate tasks. The automation of tasks was my passion for a long time and I spent a lot of time learning more about it. Unfortunatly there was only so much that I could automate working for an internet service provider.

I then by luck/chance got a job as a PHP Developer and I have never looked back. I have been working as a PHP/Javascript Developer now for over 5 years and I have never been happier. I have been able to work on a wide variety of projects and I have been able to learn a lot of new technologies. The constant learning is what I love the most about my job and I am always looking for ways to improve my skills.

Let's talk!

I would love to hear from you!
